Lately, Christopher Moon appeared on Penn State, presented on A&E, and employed what he termed "the telephone to the dead". Frank Sumption had given Mr. Moon one of his devices to test, and since then Mr. Moon has begun charging clients who want to communicate with departed or other spirits, using his telephone to the dead. Rumors have it that Frank refuses to agree with Mr. Moon's practices of asking folksfor money in exchange of the use of the "Telephone". His device while utilizing his invention, and that it was never intended for such use.
Soon after word got out about the Frank's Box, folks started to do their own experiments and there are actually a few variations on the original device, including the Radio Shack Hack, which is built by altering an AM/FM radio by cutting the mute pin on the radio so it continuously scans the radio frequencies. Those who have tested this method and other similar methods say that they have obtained results that are comparable to the initial Frank's Box.
Up to the point these devices cropped up, the most widely-used method for spirit communication has been via audio recorders, which can pick up the voices of disembodied spirits on DVR (digital recorders). The more recent techniques might allow users to have real-time communication with the deceased. Thomas Edison himself said he thought a device to converse with spirits should be created, but no one seems to know whether he in fact started to work on his own device or not.
